Arawa Bain
Arawa Mary Bain born 26/6/74
Nineteen at the time of her death, Arawa Bain was described as having been ‘a gorgeous child’. When she returned to New Zealand from Papua New Guinea her standard of education was assessed as below average, but she went on to prove she had her parents’ intelligence and skills. With a strong desire to learn, she immersed herself in school life, gaining knowledge and friendships and rose to become head girl. She continued her desire for knowledge and planned for her future. She was training to be a teacher when her life was so abruptly ended.
